Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Aided by an irresistible mandolin-heavy hook, the song plays to the melodic strengths of previous records God Save The Animals, House of Sugar and in particular, 2017&#39;s Rocket, yet hints at new narrative direction and perhaps the most dextrous and most refined production to date. ALEX G TO PLAY BARRAS IN NOVEMBER

Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Elsewhere throughout the month Big Nights @ La Belle will welcome cinematic US indie rock elders Mercury Rev; charismatic Australian singer-songwriter, X-Factor Australia sensation and recent Coldplay touring buddy Emmanuel Kelly; the bittersweet brilliance of BC Camplight; beguiling North East alt-indie collective Lanterns on the Lake; beloved UK indie-folk project This Is The Kit; electronic jazz heavyweights Svaneborg Kardyb &amp; Vega Trails; UK blues-rock duo When Rivers Meet and rising Scottish neo-trad trio Project Smok. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. The album&#39;s release preceds the band&#39;s return to Scotland with a summer headline show at Glasgow&#39;s iconic Barrowland Ballroom set for Mon 30 June. This will be their biggest Scotland show to date, charting an impressive growth in scope and stature over the course of four well-received full length albums since. When you see Black Cat Bone live, you&#39;ll feel the primal force of their music: thunderous guitar riffs, pounding drums, prowling, fuzzy basslines, searing harmonica and a haunting voice that carries the ecstasy and agony of a lifetime.Dear Heather played their first gig here in January 2024. With two members of the band working behind the bar at the same time, it&#39;s been a huge pleasure watching them grow a passionate local following playing sellout gigs in venues across Edinburgh and Glasgow. Dear Heather are well-known for their fun, theatrical and tongue-in-cheek live shows. Their eclectic sound appeals to fans of everyone from Beastie Boys to Pavement, The Beatles, The Pixies, and The Beach Boys.
