Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. ALEX G TO PLAY BARRAS IN NOVEMBER

Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. The album&#39;s release preceds the band&#39;s return to Scotland with a summer headline show at Glasgow&#39;s iconic Barrowland Ballroom set for Mon 30 June. This will be their biggest Scotland show to date, charting an impressive growth in scope and stature over the course of four well-received full length albums since. Ragingly bright post-punk quartet Ringlets emerged from Aotearoa’s musical ether in 2021; carving out space with their distinct blend of delicate wit, grit and evident sonic technicality. With a highly durable, machine-tested rhythm section and two of Auckland’s leading lyrical &amp; melodic consultants, Ringlets have been fast-building a solid reputation. Catching the eye of former Pitchfork editor Chris Ott, Autumn 2023 saw the band release their eponymous debut under Ott’s label Mutual Skies. Produced by De Stevens (Office Dog, Erny Belle) and the band themselves, the 10-track album is a sporadic and riotous introduction to this exciting musical offering. Cut to the year 2025, and few post-punk records from Aotearoa would have been more anticipated this year than the band's sophomore offering The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies), which saw the four-piece return to The Lab with Olly Harmer and usher in Michael Logie (The Mint Chicks) to produce alongside. Mixed later at Abbey Road Studios by Isaac Keating, the result is a collection of songs more cohesive and controlled - yet constantly changing and re-composing itself, totally deserving of the ‘Flying Nun Records’ alumni position it’s earned them. With their first Australian tour culminating in 8 sold-out shows, an appearance at BIGSOUND Festival in Brisbane, and a stacked lineup of summer festival appearances coming up - Rhythm &amp; Vines, Twisted Frequency, Laneway Festival - Ringlets are continuing to quietly climb the ranks of Aotearoa’s Alternative with their penchant for punk and off-the-leash expression.

Gigs can be a semi-religious experience, Martial Arts shows are transcendent affairs, with their dual frontmen Jim Marson and Matty Pearce often down on the floor with the crowd. The post-punk fivesome are a lynchpin of Manchester’s new music scene, along with their friends Westside Cowboy and Shaking Hand - a scene drawing national attention as a hotbed of creativity across multiple genres. They are also, in the words of Jim, a band of "direct action", part of a thriving grass-roots political movement in the city.

The Martial Arts

Formed naturally in 2004 by Russell Hastings with two-thirds of the band's original lineup, including drummer Rick Buckler (The Jam) and bassist Bruce Foxton (The Jam), From The Jam are remarkable in their ability to tap into the same energy, passion and sound as the guys produced in those five special years from 77 through to 82, transporting fans directly into the world of the music that we all know and love. “I just go up and sing the songs how I remember them being sung and I am many thousands of shows in now and I also had the good fortune of playing with Bruce and Rick for many years and then becoming my dearest friends so we ended up sharing the idiosyncrasies of the songs which I guess gives its authenticity. Who knows? It just works and people love singing those songs that mean so much to them!” - Russell Hastings.&nbsp; Rick left the band in 2010 to pursue other projects leaving Bruce and Russell to join forces with Mark Brzezicki from Big Country on drum duties. It was around this time that the first ‘Foxton and Hastings’ album was born. Back In The Room was recorded at Paul Weller’s Black Barn Studios and also featuring Paul Weller on three or four songs including taking piano duties on the hit single ‘Number Six’. The band continued to tour extensively to adoring fans worldwide before 2015 bought about the second album ‘Smash The Clock’, released to rave reviews and featuring guests such as Steve Cropper, Wilco Johnson, Paul Weller and Paul Jones to name a few. From this period on the band's popularity saw them become mainstays at major festivals and regularly filling iconic venues all over the world and indeed back on home turf, including the Brighton Centre, Barrowland Ballroom Glasgow, Rock City Nottingham, and many more. Bruce recently made the decision to retire from touring, performing his last show in August 2025.
