Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Portland, Oregon multi-instrumentalist Graham Jonson creates vibrant, unpredictable psych-pop under the name quickly, quickly. Pitchfork spotlighted him with a Rising feature for his “strikingly original” 2021 debut The Long and Short of It, noting the “technicolor world” of his basement studio, Kenton Sound.&nbsp; Since that release Jonson has formed a dynamic live band, issued the "Easy Listening EP (2023), and expanded into production work for artists such as Moses Sumney, Kid LAROI, and SahBabii.&nbsp; His forthcoming full-length, I Heard That Noise, channels the intimacy of folk songwriting through adventurous sound design: lush guitars and piano, sudden chord turns, and bursts of distortion that nod to influences like Phil Elverum, Dijon, and Nick Drake. The music moves from gentle ballads to explosive crescendos, always anchored by Jonson’s instinct for melody and atmosphere.&nbsp; On stage, quickly, quickly brings these contrasts to life with a warm, immersive performance—equal parts hi-fi precision and homespun energy—inviting audiences into a set that’s ambitious, intimate, and full of surprise.

In a hyper-individual world, Ulrika Spacek’s fourth album EXPO offers an antidote.&nbsp;Even as its five members have been pulled by tides of their own, Ulrika Spacek has always been a symbol of collective art. Despite a range of day jobs (experimental physicists, graphic designers, music producers) the collective pursuit is there in the shared dream logic of the music: the off-kilter melodies, jagged guitars and cirrus cloud atmospherics. It’s there, in all the things that are said and unsaid between them; there in the writing, producing and mixing processes they share in. And even as each of their parts moves toward a unified vision, it’s never more keenly felt than in the bigger picture to which Ulrika Spacek belong.&nbsp;

Bears in Trees are a band from South London who write songs about setting fire to sofas, breaking down in kitchens, and trying to become more comfortable in your own skin. Patchwork to a fault, they pride themselves on sincerity above all else. They call themselves a dirtbag boyband, but you can call them whatever you want - as long as it's nice...Dutch Criminal Record are an indie surf band from Chichester on the south coast of the UK, whose signature sound is guitar-driven, energetic, and packed with nostalgia. They take influence from '60s giants' pop vocals while lacing each track with narratives of living in 21st-century Britain with blooming harmonies and dreamy instrumentation. DCR's debut album ‘Novium’, translated from the Latin for ‘Chichester’ (the band’s hometown), represents a culmination of all that the band have achieved up until this point and an opportunity to reflect on their roots and admire the growth. Known for their infectious melodies, glossy guitar chords and vibrant live energy, DCR offer a sun-soaked album that blends nostalgic indie surf vibes with a psychedelic, Gen Z twist. The DCR boys conceived the album as a love letter to themselves and we invite you to join in on the romance.
