Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. The album&#39;s release preceds the band&#39;s return to Scotland with a summer headline show at Glasgow&#39;s iconic Barrowland Ballroom set for Mon 30 June. This will be their biggest Scotland show to date, charting an impressive growth in scope and stature over the course of four well-received full length albums since. Office Dog is made up of Kane Strang (vocals / guitar), Rassani Tolovaa (bass) and Mitchell Innes (drums). Although all originally from Dunedin in the very south of New Zealand, the three piece began writing together in 2021 after all moving to Auckland for various reasons. Songs that were formed out the back of barber shops, in hired church basements and rearranged lounges eventually became the band’s debut album, Spiel, recorded at Roundhead Studios over a few days with producer De Stevens (School Fair, Marlin’s Dreaming). Released for Australian and New Zealand audiences in 2023 by Flying Nun Records, Spiel was later given an international release by New West Records in early 2024. Pitchfork called it “an album about the joy of playing together”.&nbsp; The band followed this quickly with a 7-track EP called Doggerland, which was a more textured and experimental collection of songs released in September 2024. Paste Magazine said of the release: “cathartic and bare-boned, it airs out the grievances and struggles that come with almost losing oneself, and steps forward into the future”. Currently, Office Dog is working on their sophomore album.

So begins David MacGregor's powerful 4th album as Broken Chanter: a collection of muscular, visceral compositions that challenge the encroaching alienation of the modern socio- political landscape. Elucidated over 10 songs fuelled by an uncanny empathy and devotion to the human spirit, This Could be Us, You, or Anybody Else&nbsp;builds on 2024's Scottish Album of the Year-Longlisted Chorus Of Doubt's agitprop ecstasy to delirious effect. Recorded as ever at Chemikal Underground's studio Chem19 with producer Paul Savage and with regular collaborators Charlotte Printer, Bartholomew Owl, and Martin Johnston, This Could be Us... is rock music as revelation, protest, community in action. Harking back to the activist post-punk of the early 80s to approach the future, Broken Chanter here sound vital and immediate. Inspired by Arpita Singh's etching of the same name, This Could be Us, You, Or Anybody Else feels polemical, radical even, while centring the human stories at the heart of the oppression of the global neo-feudalist hegemony. Recorded immediately after the Chorus Of Doubt tour, throughout summer and autumn 2025, Broken Chanter here are fully locked-in, fleshing out MacGregor's songs with a widescreen palette. If Chorus Of Doubt was fuelled by defiant vitriol, its partner record here is as angry, though more overt in finding a solace in community and people. Principally here with the musicians involved: Johnston's thundering drums, umbilically linked to Printer's elastic and forceful bass work are the springboard for MacGregor and fellow guitarist Bart Owl to dovetail and crisscross across the stereofield. At the centre, MacGregor's songs bristle with cinematic detail; compassionate and still, in the face of a dystopian future edging closer, full of fiery defiance.

Allman Brown is a London, UK based singer-songwriter influenced by classic artists of the genre: Springsteen, Bon Iver, Paul Simon, Tracy Chapman and Feist. A preternaturally gifted vocalist, Brown has released three studio albums - 1000 Years (2017), Darling, It'll Be Alright (2019) and Second Son (2024) - and a number of EPs, which have accumulated a quarter of a billion streams and counting across both Spotify and Apple Music. Many of these songs have been used during dramatic moments of US TV shows such as The Good Doctor, Station 19, Criminal Minds and Suits, lending an emotional gravitas which has come to be associated with Brown’s music. His heart-on-sleeve compositions have taken him on headline tours of the UK, Ireland, continental Europe, Asia and North America. Brown’s fourth album, produced with long time collaborator Ian Barter, is due for release in August 2026, and features the new single “5G”.

‘Marshall Gilmour Webbs' are a group formed of Louise Marshall (celebrated vocalist from the Jools Holland band)Romany Gilmour (of number one single ‘Between Two Points’) and Hattie &amp; Charley Webb (known for their work with Leonard Cohen and Tom Petty).&nbsp; They developed a close bond on David Gilmour’s 2024 Luck and Strange tour. Performing a series of shows in July they took Piano Smithfield by storm, selling out and releasing extra dates.&nbsp; Subsequently they have worked with RGB sessions to release both cover and original music online. With swelling vocals, ethereal harmonies and eclectic instrumentation, they have performed the music of The Roches, Dolly Parton, Billy Joel, Minnie Riperton and more, along with their own original songs written collaboratively from Louise’s&nbsp;living room.
