Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. Drawing on the traditional jazz heritage of their hometown of New Orleans, the Hot 8 Brass Band are renowned for including elements of funk, hip hop, rap, and its local variation, “bounce” in their music. The collective earned a win in the 64th Annual Grammy Awards 2022 for their feature on John Batiste’s ‘Album of The Year', following the nomination of their ‘The Life &amp; Times Of…’ LP for ‘Best Regional Roots Album’ in 2013. Transcending genres and trends, Hot 8 have performed and collaborated with the likes of Jon Batiste, Blind Boys of Alabama, Basement Jaxx and Alice Russell, and provided live support for Mos Def, Lauryn Hill and Mary J Blige. Since forming they have established a decade-long affiliation with actor/BBC 6Music DJ Craig Charles, among other tastemakers, DJs and journalists worldwide. After a festive appearance Live at Maida Vale for Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music), the Hot 8 Brass Band performed for Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny on BBC Two to welcome in 2019. Later that year, after taking to the stage at the BRIT awards in February, Hot 8 Brass Band were invited on the European leg of George Ezra’s tour.

How often do we hear from the outsider’s perspective? For rising new artist Gia Ford, those figures on the fringes of society are by far the most fascinating. Her songs tell the stories of the downtrodden to the downright dangerous. And through them, we begin to hear familiar, uncomfortable truths about ourselves.&nbsp;Raised between Sheffield and Cheshire after her parents divorced, Ford developed an early passion for both poetry and original songs. “I’ve always loved writing creatively, and poetry is something I do for my own pleasure,” she says. “The two come together quite naturally, to the point that I end up writing these short stories that happen to be set to music.” This culminated in her spectacular debut album, Transparent Things, which was released in 2024 and is a collection of songs that demonstrates Ford’s signature Sheffield swagger, burnished with nods to alt-pop and psychedelic sleaze. Most of all, her debut album shows how Ford is able to craft songs like no other artist of her generation. Speaking about her writing style, Ford said “I think there’s a particular style of being very literal in a lot of modern lyrics, but I don’t find any joy in writing like that [...] It’s so morose talking about myself all the time.” Growing up, she found herself drawn to artists such as Kate Bush, Bjork, The Rolling Stones and Dusty Springfield: all enigmatic artists whose multi-layered songwriting only added to their allure. “What I’ve discovered through writing this album is, in a way, I am still writing about myself,” she says. “A few themes have come through that really surprised me.” Following the release of Transparent Things, Ford received huge critical success, with CLASH Magazine called her a “striking indie it-girl to watch” in an 8/10 review whilst The Line of Best Fit said “Gia Ford’s debut record is a triumph of perseverance, of artistic integrity, and of what can happen when you stick to your guns”. Ford has also received additional support from a wealth of titles including NME, DIY, WhyNow, Rolling Stone UK, Polyester, and Wonderland, to name a few.

The Voodoo Rooms - The Speakeasy

Formed in Leeds in 2006, Gentleman’s Dub Club (GDC) has spent two decades at the forefront of the UK’s dub and reggae landscape. What began as a eight-piece ensemble in a Headingley basement has evolved into an internationally touring outfit, recognized for a high-output studio discography and a live show that bridges the gap between traditional roots reggae and modern bass music. Foundation and Institutional Support The band’s origins are rooted in sound system culture, specifically inspired by the Iration Steppas, and the long-running SubDub nights in Leeds. This foundational focus on low-end theory earned them early and sustained backing from the UK’s primary reggae tastemakers. Notably, the band has been consistently championed by David Rodigan MBE, who has labeled them "one of the most energetic and exciting live bands in the country." Their music has been a staple on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, receiving rotation from figures including Don Letts, Huw Stephens, and Mistajam. Collaborative History &amp; Discography Studio Collaborations: The band has recorded with legendary vocalists and producers including Bitty McLean, Hollie Cook, Lady Chann, and Kiko Bun. The Nextmen: In 2018, they released the collaborative album Pound for Pound with The Nextmen, featuring guests such as Chali 2na (Jurassic 5), Joe Dukie (Fat Freddy’s Drop), and Gardna. Remixes &amp; Jungle: Their catalog has been reworked by industry heavyweights like Mungo’s Hi Fi, Prince Fatty, and London Elektricity, reflecting their cross-genre appeal within the DnB and Jungle scenes. Twenty Years on Stage Since their debut EP Members Only (2009) and their breakthrough full-length FOURtyFOUR (2013), the Gents have maintained one of the most rigorous touring schedules in the industry. Their 20-year milestone follows performances at Glastonbury, Outlook Festival (Croatia), Boomtown Fair, Boardmasters, the West Coast America, India, Rototom, Summer Jam, to name a few. With eight studio albums to their name—primarily released through the influential Easy Star Records—the band enters 2026 with their core lineup largely intact, continuing to serve as a vital link between the heritage of UK dub and its future evolution.

Exploring and overturning genres such as glam, MIDI, yacht rock, and even underground Spanish independent artists, Bejar was proclaimed “Rock’s Exiled King” by The Fader. His is a body of work that consistently flouts convention in favor of musical leaps of faith, statements of purpose cloaked in subterfuge, and the joyous refrain of an optimist’s heart cloaked in cynicism.
