Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. The album&#39;s release preceds the band&#39;s return to Scotland with a summer headline show at Glasgow&#39;s iconic Barrowland Ballroom set for Mon 30 June. This will be their biggest Scotland show to date, charting an impressive growth in scope and stature over the course of four well-received full length albums since. The Real People were formed by Tony and Chris Griffiths in 1988. Signed to CBS in Dec 1989 they released their eponymously named debut album including the singles Window Pane, Open Up Your Mind and The Truth in 1991. The band then embarked on a series of successful British, European, American and Japanese tours, also appearing at Glastonbury and supporting major artists such as The Pixies, David Bowie and Inspiral Carpets to name a few. The Realies (as they are known to their fans) then recorded their second album Marshmallow Lane with the help of legendary producer Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones etc). This album provided the Top 40 single ‘Believer’. Whilst touring with Inspiral Carpets, Chris and Tony took the then Inspirals roadie Noel Gallagher under their wing, along with his brother Liam and the rest of Oasis. The Real People invited Oasis into their studio to develop and record the new band, resulting in the now famous Live Demonstration Tape which subsequently secured them a major deal with Alan McGee and Creation Records. Once signed by Creation, Chris and Tony were instrumental in the recording of Oasis' first single ‘Supersonic', with Tony providing the backing vocals. Chris also co-wrote the B-side to ‘Roll With It’ entitled ‘Rockin’ Chair' which helped set Oasis on the path to becoming world wide stars and the biggest band of the past 30 years. The Real People also inspired several other Oasis songs such as ‘Columbia' and 'Don’t Go Away’. Around this time Chris and Tony continued writing and developing other artists - including writing a Top 10 single for Cher and others. In 1996 The Real People signed to MGL Records and released their third album ‘What’s On The Outside’ which included the singles ‘Rolling Stone’, ‘Rayners Lane’ and ’People In The Telly’. The band also embarked on tours including numerous tours with their good friends Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller and Simple Minds. The Real People continued writing and touring for the next few years resulting in their now cult following and new albums ’Think Positive’ and ‘Monday Morning Breakdown’. The Realies continue to write, record and tour and this forthcoming tour ‘An Evening With….’ provides a very rare chance for fans old and new to see them perform their back catalogue in stripped down acoustic versions and hear some of the stories behind the songs. If you haven’t heard The Realies before, you really should. Work on the record began in parallel with the composition of an original score for a short film set in the northern Norwegian village where Jenny lives. As a result, the early studio sessions were shaped as much by the film’s world as by the album itself. Ideas, sketches and field recordings moved freely between the two projects, allowing atmosphere and intuition to guide the music in new ways. The album moves fluidly between the intimate and the cinematic: from small sound collages of everyday moments to expansive arrangements. Throughout,&nbsp;Hunt, Gather&nbsp;carries the imprint of Northern Norway, the place they both have returned to, and of a close-knit community of musical collaborators, including Gia Margaret, Angie McMahon and Bruce Hornsby.
