Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Their upcoming release, Perfect Place, evolves from the band’s folk-soaked roots and confidently explores intricate new shapes. Marking a bold new chapter for singer-songwriter Laura Quirke &amp; cellist-arranger Claire Kinsella, Perfect Place is imbued with assuredness, encompassing full band recordings that weave synths and electronic percussion into the band’s staple organic sound.&nbsp; Through an intimate and devastatingly personal style of storytelling, the new album reflects upon the the modern tension between togetherness and alienation &amp; the chaos of human nature with radical acceptance and compassion. London-based Lauren Auder is a British-French singer-songwriter, record producer and composer who stitches together elements of classical, experimental, emo, and rap music into her own strange and hypnotic form of orchestral pop music. With the likes of Celeste, Vegyn, Caroline Polachek, Mura Masa, Boris and Jeshi all on her credits list, as well as composing music for Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton campaigns, and modelling for Marni, Mui Mui, Gucci and Celine, Auder has cemented herself as an auteur across the worlds of music and fashion. Auder released her long-awaited debut album ‘the infinite spine’ in 2023 via True Panther which documented how the weight of the world can transform you and was dubbed “heartbreaking pop music” by Pitchfork. Auder’s sophomore record ‘Whole World As Vigil’ was released on untitled (recs) on March 27th 2026 to critical acclaim, garnering strong support from BBC 6 Music, Pitchfork and other major music press. Rhiannon Giddens has made a singular, iconic career out of stretching her brand of folk music, with its miles-deep historical roots and contemporary sensibilities, into just about every field imaginable. A two-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer and multi-instrumentalist, MacArthur “Genius” grant recipient, Pulitzer Prize winner, and composer of opera, ballet, and film, Giddens has centered her work around the mission of lifting up people whose contributions to American musical history have previously been overlooked or erased, and advocating for a more accurate understanding of the country’s musical origins through art. Giddens has released three albums under her own name and two in collaboration with Italian multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi, all on Nonesuch Records. American Railroad, her first album in collaboration with the Silkroad Ensemble, was released in November 2024, and her most recent album, a collaboration with Justin Robinson, What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow, released in April 2025. A founding member of the landmark Black string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, and the all-female banjo supergroup, Our Native Daughters, Giddens is as much a curator as a creator. She is the current Artistic Director of the Yo-Yo Ma-founded Silkroad Ensemble, hosts a TV show on PBS, My Music with Rhiannon Giddens, and has hosted two podcasts (Aria Code from New York City’s NPR affiliate station WQXR, which ran for three seasons, and American&nbsp;Railroad from Silkroad). Giddens has published two children's books and written and performed music for the soundtrack of Red Dead Redemption II, one of the best-selling video games of all time. She was a music consultant for 2025’s landmark film Sinners, and appeared as a recurring cast member on ABC's hit drama Nashville and as a music history expert on Ken Burns’ Country Music series on PBS. As Pitchfork once said, “few artists are so fearless and so ravenous in their exploration”—a journey that has led to NPR naming her one of its 25 Most Influential Women Musicians of the 21st Century and to American Songwriter calling her “one of the most important musical minds currently walking the planet.”

Born where the dust bowl never died, the West-Texas raised trio that is Shallowater – Blake Skipper (guitar/vocals), Tristan Kelly (bass) and Ryan Faulkenberry (drums) – combine slowcore, post-hardcore, country, and Americana elements that defy genre labels. Quickly establishing themselves as ones to watch in the alt-country/slowcore scene, the power trio’s self-described “raw West Texas dirtgaze” has positioned the band as an evocative and distinctive force amongst current alternative genre-blending projects. The band put out their sophomore record God's Gonna Give You a Million Dollars in September 2025, garnering support from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Alt Press, Beats per Minute, Fantano and more. Produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Indigo de Souza), the record walks the line of country and slowcore, swallowed up with heavy, distorted instrumentals and soft, dynamic reprises - and even a feature from fellow West Texas musician Hayden Pedigo. Despite being a relatively newer band, the trio has garnered significant opportunities including playing mainstage at Austin City Limits in 2025 and is gearing up for their second major festival, End of the Road, in September 2026.&nbsp; Shallowater has supported Horse Jumper of Love, Dutch Interior, Hayden Pedigo, Teethe, Flooding, World's Worst, The Raveonettes and more.&nbsp;
